Casa Magna

Casa Magna earned its name fast. In 2008, two industry heavyweights, Dominican maker Manuel Quesada and Néstor Plasencia, Nicaragua’s largest tobacco grower, joined forces on a Nicaraguan puro, and that first cigar, the Casa Magna Colorado, was named Cigar Aficionado’s number one cigar of the year that same year. What made it a sensation was the value: a full-flavored, well-aged Nicaraguan blend at a friendly price. Rolled at Plasencia’s Segovia factory in Estelí from Estelí and Jalapa tobacco, the Colorado wears an oily Colorado-shade wrapper and runs medium to full, with cocoa, coffee, and sweet cedar. Quesada later built out the line with new wrappers and sizes. Affordable and accomplished, Casa Magna cigars punch well above their price.
