El Septimo

El Septimo sits at the extreme luxury end of the cigar world. The brand was founded in 2005 in France by a winemaker and later moved its headquarters to Geneva, Switzerland. The name is Spanish for “the seventh,” a reference to the seventh day of creation in Genesis. In 2019 it was acquired by Zaya Younan, whose Younan Company also owns luxury hotels, resorts, and wineries. The tobacco is grown at high altitude in San José, Costa Rica, hand-rolled as one hundred percent long filler using the entubar method, and aged anywhere from five to fifteen years. Collections like Zaya, Emperor, Sacred Arts, and Gilgamesh come in elaborate boxes, and the brand is known for opulent, jewel-encrusted accessories. Rare and very expensive, El Septimo cigars are aimed squarely at the collector and the connoisseur.
