Excalibur

Excalibur is the polished, golden-wrapped flagship of Honduran Hoyo de Monterrey, a long-running line named after King Arthur’s mythical sword. After the Cuban revolution, the Hoyo de Monterrey name was revived in Honduras at the Villazón factory, and Excalibur was created as its more refined, premium expression. The cigars are made in Honduras, and the brand is now part of General Cigar. Each Excalibur wears a smooth, golden Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Connecticut binder and a blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican fillers, reportedly drawn from the top of the factory’s tobacco. The result is a mellow to medium, beautifully balanced smoke with cedar, nuts, espresso, and a touch of pepper. A genuine classic at a fair price, Excalibur cigars have been a tobacconist staple for decades.
