The Wise Man
The Wise Man is the English name for one of Foundation Cigar Company’s signature lines, from founder Nicholas Melillo, a former Drew Estate executive who launched Foundation in 2015. The brand grew out of his debut cigar, El Güegüense, named after a 500-year-old Nicaraguan folk drama whose title translates to “the wise man.” The maduro version took that English name as its own.
Originally a Nicaraguan puro made at the Aganorsa factory, The Wise Man was relaunched in 2024 as two new blends, the Wise Man Corojo and the San Andrés-wrapped Wise Man Maduro, now crafted at the GarcÃa family’s My Father factory in EstelÃ. Built on Melillo’s deep feel for Nicaraguan tobacco, The Wise Man cigars are flavorful, well-constructed, and steeped in Nicaraguan culture.
