From Perla del Mar, the Perla del Mar Corojo Robusto is a Corojo-wrapped robusto, handmade in Nicaragua.

It blends a Honduran Corojo wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with leather, red pepper, dry cedar, and a sweet, earthy core. At 4 3/4 by 52, it burns cool and even.

Corojo was nearly abandoned in Cuba for being difficult to grow, then revived abroad by growers willing to put up with it. The payoff is the pepper and the spice it brings.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
