The cedar lining is doing real work. It absorbs moisture and gives it back slowly, which smooths out the swing every time the lid comes off, and it carries the faint cedar note that a well kept humidor is supposed to have. Tobacco beetles also want nothing to do with it, which is quiet insurance for anything you plan to keep a while.

The window means you can see the collection and check the gauge without opening it, and every opening you skip is a humidity swing that never happens. The Military build is heavier and plainer than the usual polished veneer box, meant to be handled rather than displayed.

Season the cedar with distilled water and a humidity pack for about a week before the first cigars go in. New cedar is kiln dry and will take moisture from your tobacco until it has had its fill.
