From the Padrón family, the Padron 1964 Anniversary Imperial Natural is a sun grown-wrapped box-pressed toro, handmade in Nicaragua.

It blends a Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with cedar, black pepper, leather, and a toasty, sweet spice. At 6 by 54, the box press gives it crisp edges and a slow, even burn.

The press is a Cuban habit that Nicaraguan factories adopted wholesale, and a good many Nicaraguan blends are now sold pressed by default.

Pairs well with cognac, espresso, or bourbon.
