Description

Davidoff Nicaragua was the house taking on the heat of Nicaraguan tobacco and softening it into something bittersweet. Wrapper, binder and filler are all well aged Nicaraguan leaf, so this is a true Nicaraguan puro with Davidoff construction.

The Toro is the generous format of the line at 5 1/2 by 54. Davidoff says the extra length filters the smoke nicely, so the flavour builds slowly and gets more intense in the second third. Davidoff rates it 4 out of 5 for intensity.

Davidoff’s notes follow the cigar in thirds: aromatic spice over wood and caramel at the start, roasted coffee and dark chocolate with cream through the middle, and leather with stronger spice and white pepper at the end. The finish is long, with dark chocolate. Plan on 60 to 80 minutes.

Davidoff pairs it with a creamy, well matured rum. It also stands up to bourbon or an espresso.
