Davidoff

Davidoff is the name that turned cigar storage and refinement into a philosophy: “smoke less, but better,” as founder Zino Davidoff put it. Born in 1906 in Kiev and raised in Geneva, where his father opened a tobacco shop in 1911, Zino is often credited with inventing the desktop humidor, and he made his white-banded cigars a mark of quiet luxury. The original Davidoffs were Cuban. Then, unhappy with Havana’s consistency, Zino burned roughly 130,000 of his own Cuban cigars in 1989 and broke with the island, moving production to the Dominican Republic under master blender Hendrik Kelner. Made there and in Honduras today under Oettinger Davidoff, the core white-label lines like Grand Cru, Signature, and Aniversario keep Davidoff cigars elegant and refined.
