Deadwood

Deadwood started behind the counter of a real cigar lounge. The Deadwood Tobacco Co. is a brick-and-mortar shop in Deadwood, South Dakota, the old gold-rush town that fills with riders every August for the Sturgis rally, and owner Vaughn Boyd had Drew Estate roll a sweet house blend to sell there. It caught on well beyond the Black Hills and went national in 2016. The cigars are known as much for their names as their flavor: Sweet Jane, Fat Bottom Betty, Crazy Alice, and Leather Rose, the “Yummy Bitches.” Each wears a dark maduro wrapper over aromatic and exotic tobaccos that give a natural, pipe-tobacco sweetness. Made at Drew Estate in Nicaragua, Deadwood cigars are medium-bodied and easy to like.
