Description

The HVC Hot Cake Laguito No. 5 is the 6 by 54 toro of Hot Cake, HVC’s follow up to its 2016 Pan Caliente. Pan caliente is Spanish for hot cake, and Hot Cake was announced in July 2020.

A Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper covers Jalapa Corojo 1999 and Esteli Corojo 1998 binder and filler, with three varieties of Corojo 2006 Maduro in the filler. HVC uses the viso leaves of that plant and says they give the cigar a super rich flavor with a ton of sweetness.

Cigar Aficionado rated this size 88 points, finding a wheaty, woody smoke that turns a bit peppery and floral, at medium strength. Boxes of 25.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
