Description

Montecristo is an Altadis brand, and for this line they handed the blending to AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua, which is a long way from the mild Dominican Montecristo most people picture.

An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers Mexican San Andrés binder and Honduran, Nicaraguan filler, medium to full in body. Expect earth, cedar, coffee and a faint sweetness. At 6 by 50, it burns cool and even.

Most Sumatra seed now grows in Ecuador rather than Indonesia, where the steady cloud cover suits it. In weight it sits between a Connecticut and a Habano, which makes it an easy wrapper to build a mid-strength cigar around.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
