Crowned Heads La Imperiosa Double Robusto 6 3/8″ x 50

La Imperiosa was a Cuban brand in the early 1900s, and the name means the imperative. Crowned Heads revived it with artwork and a band inspired by the original Cuban vista. The Double Robusto is its 6 3/8 by 50 size.

The blend first appeared in 2014 as a Las Calaveras limited edition and became La Imperiosa, a regular line, in 2015. It’s made by the Garcia family at My Father Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua, with a dark Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler.

Crowned Heads says it opens big with a burst of red pepper, then eases into dense layers of dark fruit, earth and charred meat, approachable but muscular. The line comes in five classic Cuban sizes, Minutos, Corona Gorda, Magicos, Double Robusto and Dukes, in boxes of 21.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
