From Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s E.P. Carrillo, the EP Carrillo Inch Natural No. 62 is a Sumatra-wrapped gordo, handmade in the Dominican Republic. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo built the brand after decades shaping modern premium cigars.

It blends an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican filler at a medium to full body, leading with earth, cedar, coffee, and a peppery, faintly sweet finish. At 5 by 62, it burns slow and cool, closer to an hour and a half than an hour.

Most Sumatra seed now grows in Ecuador rather than Indonesia, where the steady cloud cover suits it. In weight it sits between a Connecticut and a Habano, which makes it an easy wrapper to build a mid-strength cigar around.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
