Foundation

Before Nicholas Melillo launched Foundation Cigar Company in 2015, he spent roughly a decade running tobacco and production at Drew Estate in Nicaragua, picking up the nickname “Nick R. Agua” along the way. He grew up around the tobacco fields of Connecticut, and Foundation draws on both worlds: Connecticut roots and Nicaraguan leaf. Its debut, El Güegüense (The Wise Man), is a Nicaraguan puro named after a centuries-old satirical folk play that mocked the Spanish colonizers. The Tabernacle leans on a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, while Charter Oak delivers real flavor for a few dollars a stick. Melillo blends with history in mind, often working with top Estelí factories like AJ Fernandez. Foundation cigars are for smokers who want a strong story and a stronger blend behind it.
