The Foundation Charter Oak Maduro Grande is a broadleaf-wrapped gordo from Nicholas Melillo’s Foundation Cigar Co., handmade in Nicaragua. Nicholas Melillo spent years sourcing Nicaraguan leaf before founding the brand.

It blends a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and Nicaraguan filler at a medium body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 by 60, the thick ring keeps the smoke cool and rounded over a long burn.

Medium and balanced, it works at almost any hour. A characterful Nicaraguan from Foundation.
