Description

Double Ligero is Litto Gómez’s answer to anyone who thinks a cigar cannot be too strong. LFD builds it with more ligero than any other cigar it makes. Ligero is the thick, oily, slow burning leaf from the top of the plant that most blenders use sparingly.

A dark Ecuadorian Sumatra maduro wrapper covers Dominican binder and filler grown on LFD’s own La Canela farm. LFD describes black pepper, molasses and dark cocoa off the light, with thick, chewy smoke and a touch of natural sweetness. Espresso, clove and dried fruit come through the middle as the spice builds on the retrohale, and it finishes on charred wood and bittersweet chocolate. At 6 by 54 it is a long, heavy smoke.

Ligero takes the most sun of any leaf on the plant, which makes it strong, oily and slow to burn. Most blends use a leaf or two of it for backbone. Double Ligero uses more of it than any other LFD blend, which is where the name comes from. As LFD puts it, this is not a cigar for everyone.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or stout.
