The Nub Connecticut 358 is a Connecticut-wrapped gordo from Nub by Oliva, handmade in Nicaragua.

It blends an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a mild to medium body, leading with cream, cedar, blanched almond, and a gentle white-pepper snap. At 3 3/4 by 58, there is far more filler than wrapper in a ring this size, so the core of the blend leads and the wrapper follows.

The Connecticut River Valley still grows the original, but most Connecticut wrappers on the market now are Ecuadorian, raised from the same seed at a fraction of the cost.

Pairs well with coffee, cream ale, or amber ale.
