Description

Handmade in the Dominican Republic, the Gurkha Year of the Dragon 2024 by EP Carrillo is a San Andrés-wrapped box-pressed toro from Gurkha.

It blends a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler at a medium to full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 5/8 by 54, the box press gives it crisp edges and a slow, even burn.

The Valle de San Andres in Mexico has been growing this leaf since the Spanish colonial period, and its long fermentation is what puts the cocoa note in almost every cigar wrapped in it.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
