A braided cap and large 7 x 58 format define the Plasencia Year of the Horse, a limited Nicaraguan release also known as Plasencia El Año del Caballo. Produced in Nicaragua and packaged in 10-count boxes, this edition was limited to 6,000 boxes worldwide, making it a finite annual release within the Plasencia portfolio.

The blend features a Jalapa-grown Nicaraguan wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. The distinctive braid extending from the cap is applied as a separate finishing step and is designed to resemble a horse’s tail, a detail that visually separates it from standard parejos. The flavor character generally leans toward wood, earth, and darker natural sweetness, with spice building gradually as the cigar progresses.

This size favors an extended smoking window and works well as a deliberate after-dinner selection.     This cigar started with a smooth cocoa and coffee note accompanied by bits of pepper in the smoke I found kept the smoke profile balanced. Only for the 2nd half to change and bring you loads of smoke thanks to the oils of the wrapper and a smooth espresso note which wasn’t sweet or tart but tasteful at the same time. My fiance loved the aroma of the smoke which was a huge plus for me and for being something so limited available, performed in a way worth every dollar. If you enjoy the Alma Fuego, this in my opinion is similar but a step up in every direction.
