Montecristo White Pronto Petites 4″ x 33

The Montecristo White Pronto Petites is a Connecticut-wrapped petit corona from the non-Cuban Montecristo line, handmade in the Dominican Republic. This is the non-Cuban Montecristo, made by Altadis; the original Cuban brand was named after The Count of Monte Cristo, the novel once read aloud to rollers in the factory.

It blends an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Dominican filler at a mild to medium body, leading with cream, cedar, blanched almond, and a gentle white-pepper snap. At 4 by 33, the slim format pushes the wrapper forward and burns a touch faster.

Connecticut Shade is grown under cloth to keep the sun off, which keeps the leaf thin, pale and mild. Ecuador is the exception worth knowing: the cloud cover there sits low enough year round that growers skip the cloth entirely and let nature do it.

Pairs well with coffee, cream ale, or champagne.
