Description

Tres Decadas marks thirty years in the cigar business for Juan Lopez, Gurkha’s vice president of sales, and the blend was put together to mark it. One thousand boxes per size, ten cigars to a box, and that is the whole run.

An Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper sits over a Nicaraguan binder grown in Jalapa. The filler is all Nicaraguan and picked by region rather than by farm: viso from Condega, ligero from Esteli, seco from Ometepe. Three growing areas, three jobs, which is the reason it stays medium bodied with an oscuro wrapper on it.

The gran toro carries the most filler of the three, so it runs cooler and longer. Expect earth and cedar early, espresso and dark chocolate through the middle, black pepper and a natural sweetness late.

Gurkha has not said which factory rolls it, only that it is made in Nicaragua.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
