H. Upmann

H. Upmann is one of the oldest names in cigars, dating to 1844, when German banker Hermann Upmann set up in Havana and bought a cigar factory to go with his banking business. The brand split into two long ago: the Cuban version, and the non-Cuban H. Upmann sold here, which is made by Altadis at the Tabacalera de García factory in La Romana, Dominican Republic. That puts it in the same house as Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta, and the Dominican H. Upmann carries the brand’s classic reputation for a smooth, refined, mellow-to-medium smoke. The portfolio runs deep, from the 1844 lines to collaborations with AJ Fernandez. Steeped in nearly two centuries of history, H.
