Handmade in Honduras, the Gurkha Year of the Dragon 2024 by Oscar Valladares is a Corojo-wrapped toro from Gurkha.

It blends a Honduran Corojo wrapper over a Honduran binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with leather, red pepper, dry cedar, and a sweet, earthy core. At 6 by 52, it burns cool and even.

The pepper in Corojo shows up through the nose first. If a cigar labelled Corojo does not tingle on a retrohale in the first few draws, the wrapper is probably not doing much of the work.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
