The La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro is a limited production line that Litto Gómez releases only a couple of times a year, because he cannot get enough of the wrapper to run it year round. It ships in cabinets of 50.

The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sumatra ligero, a dark chocolate red leaf with a slick, oily feel and a sweet cocoa aroma off the foot. Under it sits a Dominican Sumatra binder with Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. Cocoa and a dried fig sweetness up front, black pepper and earth through the middle, leather on a long finish. At 5 1/4 by 54 it burns cool and even.

Oscuro is the darkest grade of wrapper, left on the plant the longest and fermented hardest. It is what gives this one the cocoa sweetness that sits on top of the pepper instead of behind it.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
