Description

The Oro sits near the top of La Flor Dominicana’s range. It is a Coronado blend with the wrapper swapped for leaf off the higher primings, and it ships in a gold aluminum tube, in boxes of five.

The blend runs a high-priming Nicaraguan Habano sun grown wrapper over binder and filler grown on Litto Gómez’s own La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic. A spicy opening of black pepper and cedar, then coffee and a caramel sweetness through the middle, finishing long and warm. At 6 by 54 it burns slow.

The chisel is LFD’s own shape and the thing the brand is known for. The head is pressed flat into a wedge instead of rounded off. You cut straight across the narrow edge, which opens a wide, thin slot rather than a round hole and lays the smoke flat across the palate. It is worth trying once even if you go back to a round head after.
