La Galera 1936 Box Pressed Cortador Torpedo 6 1/8″ x 52

The La Galera 1936 Box Pressed Cortador is the torpedo in the series, a box-pressed 6 1/8 x 52 with a tapered head that narrows the draw and concentrates the smoke. It is made at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic, and the 1936 name points back to the year the Palma factory was founded. The blend runs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Dominican Criollo 98 binder with Dominican Piloto Cubano and Criollo 98 fillers. The profile usually opens on coffee, leather, and pepper before settling into wood, earth, cocoa, and a touch of cinnamon. The box press and the tapered head together keep the smoke focused, and the 52 ring gauge gives the wrapper room to show without letting the cigar run heavy. A well-built Dominican with more spice than sweetness. Pairs well with espresso, bourbon, or aged rum.
