A wider, shorter expression of the Liga Undercrown Maduro blend, the Robusto compresses the recipe into a 5 by 54 format.

The line was developed in 2011 by the torcedores at Drew Estate, who built it around tobaccos related to Liga Privada drawn from different primings and vintages. The cigar uses a Mexican San Andrés Otapan Negro Último Corte wrapper, a Connecticut River Valley stalk-cut and cured T52 Habano binder, and a long-filler combining Brazilian Mata Fina with Cuban-seed Nicaraguan tobacco, all rolled at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua. Body sits at medium-to-full, packaged in boxes of 25.

Expect dark chocolate and earth at the start, with espresso, leather, and a measured pepper through the middle, then a finish that picks up cedar and a soft natural sweetness. The wider 54 ring gauge against the shorter five-inch length brings the Otapan wrapper more forward than in the slimmer formats, while keeping the burn time closer to an hour. The size suits an afternoon or post-meal break.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
