San Cristobal takes its name from San Cristobal de La Habana, the full original name of the city of Havana. Ashton owns the brand and the Garcia family makes it at My Father in Esteli.

An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler, medium in body. Expect earth, cedar, coffee and a faint sweetness. At 6 1/2 by 64, the thick ring keeps the smoke cool and the burn slow.

Sumatra seed leaf, now grown mostly in Ecuador rather than Indonesia, is the quiet workhorse of the wrapper world: earthy and faintly sweet, with far less pepper than a Habano.
