Handmade in Nicaragua, the The Tabernacle Knight Commander Perfecto is a broadleaf-wrapped perfecto from Foundation Cigar Co. The Tabernacle is Foundation’s Connecticut Broadleaf-wrapped line.

It blends a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder and Nicaraguan filler at a full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 3/4 by 52, it burns cool and even.

Broadleaf is grown for thickness rather than looks, and it takes a longer, hotter fermentation than most leaf will survive. The dark sweetness in the smoke is the sugar that process leaves behind.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
