From Foundation Cigar Co., the The Wise Man Maduro Robusto is a San Andrés-wrapped robusto, handmade in Nicaragua. The Wise Man is Foundation’s El Güegüense, named after a satirical Nicaraguan folk play recognized by UNESCO.

It blends a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 5 1/2 by 50, it burns cool and even.

Medium to full and unhurried, it leans toward the evening. A well-made Nicaraguan.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
