Liga Undercrown Maduro Gran Toro 6″ * 52

Born on the factory floor at Drew Estate, the Liga Undercrown Maduro grew out of a 2011 project by the company’s rollers, who were asked to stop smoking through the Liga Privada inventory and instead built their own blend using related tobaccos from different primings and vintages.

The cigar carries a Mexican San Andrés Otapan Negro Último Corte wrapper over a Connecticut River Valley stalk-cut and cured T52 Habano binder, with a long-filler combining Brazilian Mata Fina and Cuban-seed Nicaraguan tobacco. Production runs at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Gran Toro measures 6 by 52 at medium-to-full body, packaged in boxes of 25.

The flavor tends to lean toward dark chocolate and earth up front, with espresso and a measured black pepper running through the middle, then leather and a touch of natural tobacco sweetness on the finish. The 52 ring gauge keeps the wrapper-to-filler ratio close to balanced, letting the San Andrés character carry the cocoa side of the blend across the burn. The format fits a standard hour-and-a-half session.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
