Description

The fifth installment in the Toscano Master Aged lineup, the Series 5 stretches the line into a wider, robusto-style format than the longer, slimmer cigars that came before it.

Manifatture Sigaro Toscano produces the cigar in Lucca, Italy, using a Kentucky-seed fire-cured wrapper grown in Italy over a filler that combines Italian and North American Kentucky tobacco drawn from the highest leaf primings. Like other Toscanos, the cigar is binder-less and tapers at both ends, with each side pre-cut from the factory so the cigar can be smoked whole or broken in half at the band into two shorter smokes. Master Aged Series cigars receive at least 360 days of post-roll aging, with all fire-cured leaf stored in climate-controlled rooms before rolling. The Series 5 measures 5 inches long and 50 ring gauge at its widest, tapering to 38 at the tips, and ships in boxes of 30.

The flavor tends to lean toward charred wood, dried hay, and a pronounced campfire smokiness from the fire-curing, with leather, dark earth, and a faint sweetness building through the middle before a finish carrying espresso and dry spice. Body sits at full. The shorter, thicker format produces a heavier smoke output than the traditional thin Toscano shapes, giving the Kentucky character more weight on the palate.

Pairs well with espresso, grappa, or red wine.
