Nick Melillo ran tobacco at Drew Estate for years before starting Foundation, and The Tabernacle was the first blend he put out under his own name. He did not open quiet.

A dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper covers a Mexican San Andres binder and Nicaraguan filler, full in body. Expect dark chocolate, espresso, earth and black pepper, with leather lingering late. At 5 by 54, the perfecto starts narrow and opens up, so the first inch runs sharper than the rest.

Broadleaf over San Andres is a heavy pairing that goes muddy in the wrong hands. This one stays clean.
