From Flor de, the Flor de las Antillas Toro is a sun grown-wrapped box-pressed toro, handmade in Nicaragua. Flor de las Antillas, from My Father, was Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year in 2012.

It blends a Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with cedar, black pepper, leather, and a toasty, sweet spice. At 6 by 52, the box press gives it crisp edges and a slow, even burn.

Box pressing squares the cigar under weight after rolling. It slows the burn, and a squared cigar sits still on a table instead of rolling off the edge, which is a small thing until it happens.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
