La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Digger 8 1/2″ x 60

Double Ligero is Litto Gomez’s answer to anyone who thinks a cigar cannot be too strong. It is built almost entirely from ligero, the thick leaf from the top of the plant that most blenders use sparingly, and the Digger is the biggest size in the line.

An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers Dominican binder and filler, full in body. Expect black pepper, cedar, leather and earth, with the natural wrapper letting the spice come through plainly. At 8 1/2 by 60, the wide ring keeps the smoke cool and lets the filler lead.

La Flor Dominicana grows its own tobacco on its La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic, which is the only practical way to make a cigar this ligero heavy. At this size, this is not a first cigar of the day.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or stout.
