A wider, longer format in the Atabey range, the Delirios stretches Nelson Alfonso’s super-premium blend across nearly six inches at a 55 ring gauge.

This is a Costa Rican production from Tabacos de Costa Rica, with the recipe officially undisclosed by Selected Tobacco. The line is widely identified as using an Ecuadorian wrapper with a filler that includes Peruvian ligero. Each cigar rests for at least five years after rolling in cedar-lined humidors that combine Cuban, Spanish, Lebanese, Brazilian, and Mexican cedar, with humidity cycled between 40 and 70 percent during the aging process. The Delirios measures 5 3/4 by 55, at mild-to-medium body.

Expect honey, sweet cedar, and almond at the start, with cream, light floral character, and a touch of vanilla through the middle, then a clean, slightly toasted finish. The wider gauge tends to soften the smoke and bring out the sweeter side of the wrapper compared to the slimmer vitolas in the line. The format fits an unhurried afternoon pace.

Pairs well with champagne, cognac, or coffee.
