Fonseca is an old Cuban name that has also been made in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Today it belongs to the Garcia family, and this version is blended and rolled at My Father in Estelí, a serious address for a brand that spent years as a quiet value pick.

A shade-grown Corojo 99 rosado wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler, all grown by the Garcia family, medium in body. Expect cedar, coffee, sweet spice and a touch of earth. At 6 1/4 by 52, the toro burns slow and even.

The Cedros is the only size in the line that comes individually wrapped in a sheet of cedar. Cedar is what humidors are lined with, and keeping it against the wrapper slows drying and lends a soft cedar note. Slide it off before you light up.

Pairs well with coffee, bourbon, or cognac.
