Description

The HVC Hot Cake Gran Canon is the 6 by 60 size of Hot Cake, HVC’s follow up to its 2016 Pan Caliente. Pan caliente is Spanish for hot cake. Hot Cake was announced in July 2020, and the Gran Canon joined it in 2021 as HVC’s first 60 ring cigar, with a second band at the foot that reads 60 and Gran Cañon.

A Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper covers Jalapa Corojo 1999 and Esteli Corojo 1998 binder and filler, with three varieties of Corojo 2006 Maduro in the filler. HVC uses the viso leaves of that plant and says they give the cigar a super rich flavor with a ton of sweetness.

In halfwheel’s review of this size, creamy cedar and cashews led, with cocoa nibs, coffee beans and cinnamon underneath and white pepper and graham cracker on the retrohale, at about medium strength. Boxes of 25.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
