Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Poderoso 6″ x 54

The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Poderoso is a 6 by 54 torpedo from Joya de Nicaragua, the country’s oldest cigar maker, handmade in Estelí. The Antaño Dark Corojo line arrived in 2007 and is known as one of the most powerful cigars on the market.

A dark, oily Nicaraguan Corojo Oscuro wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and a filler rich in high priming ligero. Joya calls it extra full bodied, ultra robust yet smooth, and rates its strength a 6 on a 5 point scale. It builds as you smoke.

Cigar Aficionado scored the Poderoso 82 points, noting a nearly black wrapper with a very pointy tip, earthy flavors, heavy char and a damp finish with a note of mushroom. It is one of six sizes in the line, dressed in black and gold bands.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or stout.
