Montecristo Espada Guard 6″ x 50

The Montecristo Espada Guard is a Habano-wrapped toro from the non-Cuban Montecristo line, handmade in Nicaragua. This is the non-Cuban Montecristo, made by Altadis; the original Cuban brand was named after The Count of Monte Cristo, the novel once read aloud to rollers in the factory.

It blends a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with cedar, black pepper, espresso, and a sweet, leathery spice. At 6 by 50, it burns cool and even.

Habano describes the seed, not the country. Grown in Nicaraguan or Ecuadorian soil it keeps the Cuban spice while picking up the character of wherever it was planted.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
