The Reserva Original is Plasencia’s organic Nicaraguan puro, certified by the OCIA, and the Cortez is its thick perfecto. The Plasencia Reserva Original Cortez is an all-Nicaraguan blend from the family’s own farms, with the tobacco given about five extra years of aging, at a mild to medium body.

The flavor usually stays smooth, with nuts, cedar, cereal, and a light baker’s spice. At 5 3/4 by 56, the perfecto tapers at the foot and opens into an easy, even burn.

The mild to medium body makes it an easy morning or daytime smoke. It is sold as singles or boxes of 10, so one is a simple first try. A smooth, organic Nicaraguan puro.
