Toscanello Hazelnut Raffinato 3″ x 38

Hazelnut and a sweetened tip make this one of the softer and more pastry-like Toscanellos in the range.

Toscanello Hazelnut Raffinato, officially the Castano Raffinato, was introduced in 2016 after a limited edition run and belongs to the flavored ammezzati made in Cava de’ Tirreni. It uses Italian and foreign Kentucky tobacco with an Italian Kentucky wrapper, and the defining feature is the sweetened tip, which sets it apart from the standard Aroma line.

The flavor usually begins with toasted hazelnut and sweetness, then moves toward aromatic wood, cocoa, and a light amaretto-like impression. As it burns, the caramelized sugar at the tip keeps the smoke sweeter than the regular Toscanellos, while the fire-cured tobacco still brings some dry wood and spice through the middle.

At 3 x 38, it stays short and easy to pace, with the sweetness showing early and the tobacco becoming clearer toward the second half. It fits best as a quick flavored smoke where the sweetened finish is part of the identity rather than just a background accent.

Pairs well with espresso, coffee, or grappa.
