Description

Handmade in Nicaragua, the Viva La Vida Gran Toro is a maduro-wrapped gordo from Viva La Vida.

It blends a Nicaraguan Habano Maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan Corojo binder and Nicaraguan Criollo 98 filler at a medium to full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 by 60, there is far more filler than wrapper in a ring this size, so the core of the blend leads and the wrapper follows.

Ecuadorian Habano and Nicaraguan Habano are the same seed in different dirt, and they do not smoke alike. Ecuador’s cloud cover gives a smoother, more even leaf, while Nicaraguan sun puts more pepper in it.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
