Atabey Duendes 6″ * 54

Tapered to a torpedo head and built around a 6 1/8 by 54 frame, the Atabey Duendes is the figurado expression of Selected Tobacco’s flagship ultra-premium line.

Production runs at Tabacos de Costa Rica in Santiago de Puriscal under blender Nelson Alfonso. The blend is built around an Ecuadorian shade wrapper over a Dominican binder and a Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler. Every Atabey vitola rests for a minimum of five years post-roll in cedar-lined humidors using Cuban, Spanish, Lebanese, Brazilian, and Mexican cedars, with humidity cycled from 40 percent back up to 70 percent to draw the cedar character into the leaf. Body sits at medium.

The tapered head concentrates the smoke at the start, opening with sweet cedar, almond, and honey, then moving into cream, light floral notes, and a soft toasted-bread character through the middle before finishing with a touch of warm spice. The figurado shape suits a slower, more deliberate evening session.

Pairs well with champagne, cognac, or coffee.
