Description

Handmade in Nicaragua, the Flor de las Antillas Maduro Toro Gordo is an oscuro-wrapped gordo from Flor de. Flor de las Antillas, from My Father, was Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year in 2012.

It blends an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a medium to full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 1/2 by 56, it burns cool and even.

Ecuadorian Habano and Nicaraguan Habano are the same seed in different dirt, and they do not smoke alike. Ecuador’s cloud cover gives a smoother, more even leaf, while Nicaraguan sun puts more pepper in it.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
