From Joya de Nicaragua, the country’s oldest cigar maker, the Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 Consul is a Criollo-wrapped robusto, handmade in Nicaragua. Joya de Nicaragua has rolled cigars in Estelí since 1968.

It blends a Nicaraguan Criollo wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler at a full body, leading with cedar, sweet spice, toasted almond, and a soft pepper. At 4 1/2 by 52, it burns cool and even.

Criollo is one of the oldest Cuban seed varieties still in use, an heirloom leaf kept around because nothing else brings quite the same sweetness.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or stout.
