Ashton’s Cabinet Selection was its first line extension, built around extra-aged Dominican tobacco, and the Belicoso gives it a tapered shape. The Ashton Cabinet Belicoso is made by the Fuente family in the Dominican Republic, with a Connecticut shade wrapper over Dominican binder and filler aged five to seven years, at a mild to medium body.

The flavor usually stays smooth, with cashew, almond, cream, cedar, and a light white pepper. At 5 1/4 by 52, the belicoso tapers to a point that focuses the draw early.

The mild to medium body and tapered cap suit an easy daytime smoke, and the point takes a straight or V cut. It is sold as singles or boxes of 25, so one is a simple first try. A smooth, well-aged Connecticut-shade Ashton.
