The blend uses a Brazilian Mata Fina maduro wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder, and Nicaraguan filler grown by Fernandez in Estelí, with a medium-full character.

At 6 1/2 inches by 58 ring gauge, the Gordo gives the blend more width and a cooler, longer format than the smaller sizes. The flavor usually starts with earth, cocoa, and pepper, then moves toward coffee, cedar, and darker spice as the cigar develops.
