Antico leans into the older, heavier Toscano style and keeps the line’s fire-cured identity front and center.

Toscano Antico was introduced in 1973 as a natural long format and uses a North American Kentucky wrapper over Italian and North American Kentucky filler. Its blend is shaped by more than ten months of fermentation and aging, and the wrapper is cured for more than 30 days over hickory and oak, which gives the cigar a distinctly smoky base before the size even comes into play.

The flavor usually begins with aromatic wood, dry smokiness, and a firm bitterness, then moves toward dried fruit and sharper spice as it progresses. This is one of the more forceful regular Toscanos, but the strength comes from fullness of taste rather than just raw sharpness, so the smoke stays dense and direct instead of chaotic.

At 6 x 38, the long double-truncated format gives that stronger blend room to unfold gradually rather than hit all at once. It fits best when the goal is a traditional Toscano with a deeper, more mature profile and a longer session than the flavored ammezzati.

Pairs well with espresso, grappa, or red wine.
